WEBMWebM
An open video format designed by Google for the web (VP8, VP9 or AV1). It is light, but some apps, TVs and phones cannot play it.
Turn your WebM videos into MP3 files right in your browser, so your files are never uploaded to a server. How long it takes depends on the video’s length and your device.

These sample files are generated on the page. Convert them to try it out, or add your own.
Click “Choose WebM files” or drop them on the page. You can add several at once.
MP3 is already selected. Choose the bitrate, from 128 to 320 kbps.
Click “Convert”, then download your MP3 file. With several files, grab everything at once as a ZIP.
Audio WebM files often come from an online voice recorder, a screen-recording extension or a video call recorded in the browser. Their sound is nearly always Opus, and so 48 kHz, sometimes Vorbis: it is decoded, resampled to 44.1 kHz and then encoded as MP3. Any picture is ignored, and a WebM with no picture, sometimes named .weba, converts in exactly the same way.
The MP3 opens in audio editors, transcription tools and podcast software, which do not always accept WebM. For speech, 128 kbps is enough; keep 192 kbps or more for music. Allow just under 58 MB for an hour-long meeting at 128 kbps, and around 86 MB at 192 kbps.

The most universal audio format. Its compression shrinks files a lot while keeping good listening quality, and it plays on every device.
Yes. Many WebM files recorded in a browser do not state their duration, which leaves the progress bar useless. To create the MP3, all the sound is decoded from start to finish and then encoded at a constant bitrate, so the resulting file shows an exact duration and seeks normally in any player.
Because the recording already was: many microphone recordings are mono, and Formatomat keeps the original number of channels. It is not a fault: a mono MP3 plays through both speakers or both earbuds, and the whole bitrate goes to that single channel.
No. The file is read and converted by your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, and nothing is kept after you close the page.
Only the audio track is extracted, then encoded as MP3. At the default bitrate (192 kbps) quality is very good for listening; choose 320 kbps for the maximum.
As many as you like, for free and without signing up. Add them all, then download the results one by one or in a single ZIP. The maximum size depends on your device and browser, with a few caps that protect its memory (for example 20,000 files per archive or 5 million filled cells per workbook: see the home page FAQ); a file over one of them is not converted, and a message says so.
Formatomat is designed for recent browsers on computers, iPhone and Android, with no app to install. A conversion the browser cannot do (a format it cannot read or write) is refused with a message that says so.
